A group of unidentified kidnappers have allegedly abducted a traditional title holder in Shabu, a border town on the outskirts of the Lafia metropolis.
Alhaji Musa Shuaibu, Madakin Shabu was kidnapped around 08:00 pm on Thursday.
The incident has left residents in turmoil as his abductors were said to have shot sporadically into the air during the criminal operation, creating fears in the town as residents scampered for safety.
Eyewitnesses said the victim was abducted a few minutes after the dusk prayer (Isha’i) on his way back to his residence, a few metres away from the mosque.
A worshipper, who requested anonymity, said: “The bloodthirsty kidnappers were well-armed ready to kill at the slightest provocation.”
Nasarawa State Police Command spokesman, Ramhan Nansel confirmed the abduction of Shuaibu, adding that effort was on top gear to arrest the perpetrators immediately and rescue the victim unhurt.
“It is true. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the criminals and rescue the victim.” He stated.
