Stop xenophobic attacks in your country – Prophet Ikuru to Ramaphosa

The General Overseer of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, has urged South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa to end xenophobic attacks.

The cleric condemned the targeting of Nigerians and other nationals living in the country and advised Ramaphosa to move against the perpetrators.

The South African leader was inaugurated for a second term on Wednesday, a ceremony attended by President Bola Tinubu and other heads of government.

In a statement on Friday, Ikuru charged Ramaphosa to foster democracy by fulfilling his campaign promises to citizens as well as foreigners.

“Xenophobic attacks must no longer continue. As Africans, we must display our unity and mend fences in areas of disagreement. Violence should never be an option,” he said.

The cleric, however, appealed to Nigerians to give President Tinubu more time to fix the economy, noting that the positive results of policies take time to manifest in most cases.

“The people should be patient enough to allow the President to deliver on his electoral promises. This is why he needs more of our prayers. I foresee a better Nigeria in no distant future,” Ikuru added.

Speaking on the Edo State governorship race, the clergyman predicted victory for Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The APC candidate, according to revelation, will win the gubernatorial election which will be held on September 22, while the PDP will come second,” Prophet Ikuru said.

This week, former Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu announced his support for the APC flagbearer and distanced himself from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

“We have only two homeboys in the major political parties in Edo State. One is in Labour, and one is in APC. I choose to follow another homeboy in the APC,” Shaibu declared.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed that 17 political parties are fielding candidates in the forthcoming poll.
