Nigerian security forces have arrested a woman identified as Aisha Abubakar, for allegedly transporting ammunition to terrorist groups in Katsina State.
Abubakar was arrested during a routine stop-and-search operation designed to combat the increasing insurgent activities in the region.
During the operation, security personnel discovered ammunition concealed in the suspect’s luggage.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, reported on Monday that the authorities uncovered the ammunition during the search.
Makama stated that the suspect initially denied any involvement. However, under interrogation, she confessed to transporting the ammunition to terrorist groups.
“During the course of interrogation, the suspect confesses that she was heading to Yan Tumaki in Dan Musa LGA in Katsina State.
“The incident highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and the importance of vigilance in preventing the proliferation of illegal weapons,” Makama said.
