ZAROTA, NDLEA, partner to tackle drug abuse in Zamfara


The Commandant of the Zamfara State Road Traffic Agency (ZAROTA), Muhammad Bello Musa Ataka, has assured the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of collaboration in curtailing the high rate of drug abuse in the state.

The Commandant stated this while receiving the State Controller of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, M.A. Awoleye Matthew, at the ZAROTA Secretariat in Gusau, the state capital.

According to him, the activities of the NDLEA in the state are of paramount importance, especially in eliminating social vices in society.

Ataka requested the agency’s support and cooperation for the smooth running of ZAROTA activities.

The Commandant also added that the state government was playing a vital role in enhancing ZAROTA’s activities by absorbing the temporary two hundred and fifty staff already working with the agency, in addition to providing operational vehicles.

Earlier, the Controller of the NDLEA, Mr M.A. Awoleye Matthew, said he was at the ZAROTA headquarters to introduce himself and seek necessary support and cooperation to carry out his constitutional duty effectively.

He further commended the state governor, Dauda Lawal, for his efforts in providing all the needed assistance to security agencies, with a view to ending the security challenges bedeviling the entire state.

The state NDLEA boss assured the state government of maximum support and cooperation in its fight against insecurity to achieve its desired goals.

He then called on the people in the state to continue their fervent prayers for Allah to restore peace and harmony in the state and the country at large.
